About the Author

Picture

Author, Blogger, and horse midwife, and eternal student of horse behavior and communication, Cheryl L Eriksen published her award-winning memoir, Follow Me, Friend in 2021 and the sequel, I've Never Been to Me in 2023. She followed up with the publication of Horse Listening in 2024 - a unique hybrid book and journal which challenges the reader to consider how what they bring to the horse affects what the horse is able to give back to them.
Cheryl has spent decades as an equine professional in multiple areas of the horse industry including foaling, breeding, training, showing, sales prep, and veterinary assistant. Through her work in the field of equine assisted psychotherapy and learning, Cheryl has seen and experienced firsthand the healing power of the horse-human relationship. She has studied equine behavior and communication extensively as well as  what she refers to as "the energy of intention" and its role in our work with horses.  Cheryl's first three books (known as the Hope, Horses, and Healing Book Collection) and her blog, Peace Horse Journey, explore this powerful relationship and what Cheryl has coined "horse-guided self-discovery."
Cheryl currently resides in the historic Bluegrass region of Kentucky, working as a horse midwife for various thoroughbred farms January-May, and focusing on her writing, teaching, and speaking engagements the rest of the year. Her latest book, "Greyhound" is a biography of the legendary Depression-era racehorse who inspired a nation with his enigmatic personality, antics described as "almost human," and the love he inspired in all who knew him.
When not working with, writing about, or spending time around horses (which is almost never), Cheryl enjoys hiking, reading, drawing, traveling, researching her next book, and waiting for the day the Detroit Tigers remember how baseball works and return to their 1984 glory.
